Obelisk

obelisk

The obelisk was designed by architect Buels of Ghent in 1812 and it was the first public fountain in Ronse. The obelisk is 11 metres high and has four water basins. A crown with the letter 'W' for William I, king of the Netherlands, used to be located on the sphere at the top. The crown was pulled down when Belgium gained independence in 1830.
