The Spaniards' Castle

Het Spanjaardenkasteel

The Spaniards' Castle is centrally located in Bruul Park. According to tradition, a Spanish garrison was stationed here that took up arms against the Protestant rebels. At the beginning of the 17th century it was completely rebuilt. In the 18th century it was the deanery of the chapter of St Hermes. The last dean of the chapter had salons installed in Louis XV and Louis XVI style. The Spaniards' Castle is now part of the Must - Museum of Textiles but is closed to the public so an inventory can be made.
